Meet our current Volunteer Ambassadors!

Clive Norman

Kia ora my name is Clive Norman and I am a Volunteer Ambassador working with the Fundraising and Comms Team.

I've been involved as a driver for the Cancer Society Wellington for a while now, and have a sense for how the Cancer Society operates.

I was happy to offer my time as one of the inaugural Fundraising and Communication ambassadors with a view to reaching out to community groups to talk on behalf of CSW about what CSW services are offered, my experiences and the growing need to expand those services to meet the demand there is for them.

I would welcome the opportunity to present to your community group. Email me here on ozkiwis@slingshot.co.nz

Janie Cook

Hello, I'm Janie Cook, regular volunteer here at Cancer Society.  I discovered this charity about 14 yeas ago when my mother-in-law from Masterton was well-served by Margaret Stewart House.  So I became a volunteer, which is when I first learned about its wide range of services and volunteer opportunities. My primary roles are patient driver and annual Daffodil Day Area Coordinator, and I've had many fun ad-hoc assignments over the years.  I am particularly excited about being an ambassador, so I can share with the community what the Cancer Society actually does and how you can help.

If you want to talk to me please email me  on janie.o.cook@gmail.com

Karen Blakey

My name is Karen Blakey and am proud to be an ambassador for the Cancer Society Wellington. I have had personal family experience of caring and supporting loved ones during their cancer journey which has given me the insight, knowledge and understanding of how a diagnosis of cancer affects not only the person receiving the diagnosis but their family and friends.

The Cancer Society provides support through various activities, such as volunteer visitors on the wards, drivers to bring people to their appointments, daffodil day with the army of collectors and now this newly developed role of Ambassador.

The main purpose of the role is to meet with community groups and provide information on the services offered and the value of donations received. I would be very happy to come to one of your community events to tell you more about the valuable work of the cancer society and the much appreciated and the importance of the contributions that you make in supporting this valuable charity.

If you are a community group on the Kapiti Coast and would like me to attend one of your events then please contact me on karenblakey550@gmail.com
