COVID-19: Events and Support Groups Postponed

The Cancer Society takes the health and well-being of our communities seriously.

While the world works together to better understand and slow the spread of COVID-19 (Novel Coronavirus), we have decided to postpone our Relay For Life events which were planned for:

  • March 21st-22nd in Nelson
  • April 4th-5th in Upper Hutt

Relay For Life is a community event and our priority is the health and wellbeing of our community. As the world works together to better understand and slow the spread of COVID-19, postponing the event is the best step we can take to ensure everyone in the community, especially those with lowered immunity, is kept safe and well.

We would like to thank all our event participants, volunteers and staff for the huge amount of work that has been done to plan and manage these events. We look forward to announcing new event dates when we can.

Even though we cannot be together in person, our Relayers are still doing something remarkable together. The funds that they continue to raise will be going to support our crucial work caring for Kiwis with cancer and their whānau. This is especially important right now as they are among those most vulnerable to the spread of COVID-19.

We hope to see all participants at the events later in the year. We would like to give you the opportunity to donate your Registration Fee to Relay For Life, however, if you would like it refunded please contact us.

We are working harder than ever to protect our community of people affected by cancer. We have also taken the precaution of suspending our Support Groups, Talks, and Courses until further notice.

We understand that this time of uncertainty may be making things more difficult for you. If you would like support, we’re here for you. Please connect with us on 0800 CANCER (226 237) or email
